Consultation on Options to Deliver the Additional Housing Requirements - August to September 2025

Publication Draft of Local Plan - Summer 2026
This is the version of the Local Plan which will be submitted to the Secretary of State. This is the stage where the District Council requests more formal comments which will be used as evidence as part of the Public Inquiry and examination of the plan. Only the Inspector is able to consider the comments made at this stage
Consultation on Revised Draft Local Plan - January 2026 - Now Live
The revised draft Local Plan was narrowly approved by Cabinet and Full Council on 15th and 22nd January respectively. FODDC is now running a consultation event until 18th March with the public. The consultation can be found here (redirects to external page)
Submission and Examination Stage - Autumn 2026
At this stage, the plan will be submitted to the Secretary of State who in turn will appoint an Inspector to conduct an examination of the plan.
Should the Inspector find the Plan ‘sound’, it will be adopted by the Council. The Inspector also has the ability to direct that changes to be made to the plan, or that it be withdrawn in its entirety.
